Exhibit Timeline:
This exhibit has been put forth through the efforts, care and research done by Dr. Brenda Webb. She hopes that by building this exhibit, the young students in the Shoals area will learn about the influence that the Tennessee River has had on their own lives.
September: The board met to decide who to contract for the exhibit project. Through this process they met with contractors and were presented with design concepts. Work continued on the Tennessee River exhibit.
October: The TN River exhibit is being prepared for everyday use and ideas are still being drafted for the Riverboat exhibit. The board of directors at the museum have been considering many ideas for different structures. At this time, they believe that the best use of space would be to have a cut-away, useable structure. This would allow the children to interact the structure.
November: At this time, the Children's Museum of the Shoals has put the project on hold. They are trying to ensure that funding and appropriate planning are taken into consideration for this project. As someone who is still learning about the City of Florence Riverboat, I hope that this exhibit will soon take form. This exhibit would be one way to ensure that future generations are able to see how rich of a history Florence really has.
December: The Children's Museum of the Shoals is taking part in the Sugarplum Festival to help raise funds to further fund this project in the future.
